I've been working on this piece since last Thursday.. It was another one of those punch, tear out, punch, give up, re-draw the pattern, start all over again....I'm learning alot by trial and error about the dimensons and placement of elements in my doodles, to make them easier to use for punch needle...I started out drawng my doodles just for the purpose of doing stitcheries. In that case, it's much easier to stitch up just about anything , no matter how small or crowded ....

I would like to see how I can better adapt my designs for rug hooking...But, I guess I better start doing more hooking for that to happen....lol

As soon as I finish this post, I will be finishing up the pattern for this punch needle entitled, " Oh Spring" ...

I have been at it, drawing again...I'm working on a new punch needle pattern for Spring...When I finished this up, I wanted to see it colored in...then I decided to offer it as a freebie...It may not be to everyone's liking, not really primitive per say....don't worry, I've got more doodles in my head....lol

Hello everyone... How are you this fine Wednesday February 1st ? We had a high temp of 60 degrees here in Erie, Pa, yesterday...That is almost unheard of for what they call " The Mistake On The Lake " . It really isn't...Erie is a beautiful city. We are actually the 3rd largest city in Pa. , bigger than Harrisburg, the state capital.
We have Presque Isle, it is natural Penninsula right off the Shore in Erie, and it has beautiful beaches... oh well, AS I was saying, Erie is usually in Competition with only 1 other city for the Golden Shovel Award on ABC Good Morning America, and that is Buffalo, NY ...So, yesterdays weather was a fluke..Today, rainy, but not too cold...40's...

Rabbit Parade Punch Needle Pattern ...and Valentine Decor

Well ladies, I have been busy busy busy !! I started on this new needle punch design Friday.

First, I traced the design onto my weavers cloth, got it on the hoop, started getting my floss together and realized I forgot to "mirror" the image,and the letters would be all backwards after punching. I took that piece of cloth off the hoop ( I can use it to do a stitchery). Retraced the design and got it all ready. Started to punch the letters and they looked like big blobs, even after doing the background.

I tore it out, started all over again..finally realized the problem ( for me anyways) was that the letters were too close together for the small flag. So, the next step was to bring up the image in my paint program , erase the letters in the flag, print the image off ( I was trying to avoid re-tracing the entire design ). I re-wrote the one word Easter and made the letters larger and further apart. Scanned the pic, saved and I remembered to mirror the image, printed it off. I got that all traced on new cloth and was all set to go. I started punching and wow, what a difference. all was going well...but, I had no gray for the background. Ran to JoAnn's , spent $17 on floss....all different colors.

Working VERY late into the night , errr should say into the early morning, I was almost finished , it was looking good, but I still wasn't happy with the letters, I knew I could do better.

My obsession ( ocd) took over and out came all the letters and flag background.

I re-punched it all much tighter together and I was finally satisfied with the end results.

Right now, after 4 hours of sleep, I'm typing up the pattern ( re-checking and re-checking constantly...lol ) .

I finally put together my little Valentine Tree this morning, figured it was getting late, better do it now before Valentine's Day is here and gone.

A new pair of eyes...and some AWESOME Ebay sellers..

I happened upon this nice lady's work on Ebay...Of course I recognized the designs, but wow...she did some cool things with colors and especially the hooked rug, love letter design...look at that hooking..oh if only mine looked that good...practice practice...lol..These were done up by Laurie(zimzzwhimz)

Next are two favorite ladies, I have the privilege of knowing from an Ebay group, AAPG.

Doris(luv2punch) is the sweetest person ! She can whip up a punch piece quicker than anyone I know, and look at that design by Kelley Belfast..Doris sure did that design justice !! Love it Doris !

Rebecca(goodwool)is another sweet gal from the group on Ebay. She does a large percentage of her pieces in the most wonderful neutral tones.You'll have to click on her name too and take a peek at her work..How she can combine all the different shades of tans and light browns and such...Beautiful !

Ok, so here we go. I DO NOT like to have pictures taken of myself. But....I have lost just a few pounds and to me, my face is slightly thinner, so I will share this picture ( as I cringe ) I got a new pair of glasses the other day and so, just pretend the triple chin isn't there and take a peek at my new "eyes"..Bifocals of course(progressives) My daughter took the pic with my phone and wow, I need new highlights and cut and style...oh well.....

OOHHH..I hope I didn't scare you off permanently ...lol

NEW Spring Doodle Booklet and..Awesome gift !!

I finally finished up the Spring Doodle Booklet. It doesn't have designs of chicks or bunnies, more just "springish" stuff....lol. I wish I could post pics of the inside designs, but ladies, there are lots of folks out there that would just scoop them up and use as their own. It's happened so many times...at first I just let it go and figured "oh well " they'll reap what they sow, but as time goes on and I work really hard on my designs, I just want to try and prevent it, you know ???I even tried the watermarking...doesn't matter unless you are trying to sell the printed design.... C'est La Vie ...Well, both this and the Easter Doodle booklet are available for purchase on my side bar. And now....A wonderful gal from blog land, gifted me with this awesome hoop stand ..She was so sweet and refused to take anything for it or let me pay shipping... That is just the sweetest thing !!

I know we've all done that for a fellow blogger here or there, but gals, when this happens to you, why is it hard to accept graciously ?? Believe me, I wasn't going to turn the offer down, but at the same time there's always a little tinge of " someone else out there needs this more than me "..you understand ??? Thank you to Courtney of Sassafrass and Winterberry for this wonderful gesture of generosity !! I can't wait to draw up a design and stick on the hoop and get going. I KNOW this will make my hooking so much easier. And I promise if I get something different down the line I will " Pay it forward " to a newbie hooker..... I have been drawing and getting this, and another doodle booklet just for Spring, together since Friday night.I love drawing and playing around with the ideas in my head. The Spring Doodle Booklet will be ready in another day or so.
I Had to say a big thank you to everyone for the lovely comments about my finished rug. There are so many helpful and encouraging ladies ( and guys) in the rug hooking community. I feel so welcome by you all. And those that don't hook...try it !!

I also wanted to show a picture of a little wool applique pillow I made for the opening of the selling blog. Yup...that's right ! I finished my rug....BUT...I learned AFTER I did the "tongues" the correct way to do the edges.I am going to put it back on the hoop and fix a few things..It is also a little wonky, mostly due to the horrible mess made by whoever did the really poopy job drawing the design on the monks cloth!!!!...Oh, wait, that's me....lolI did end up tearing out the numbers and the little box they are in and re-doing ( made some mistakes there too ), and I tore out the strip of white that outlined the bird and hooked it in a darker tan than the background...the same color I used to outline the bigger flower.So, with all the repairs made already, and the ones I still have to do, I think it is passable for an ADHD old lady who knew next to nothing when I started....lol...Thank you to ALL of the folks that were so knowledgeable and tutored me along the way, the compliments and the crititicisms are both welcome and appreciated !!!I don't know what your weather is like, but we are getting a doozy snow storm here in NW Pa. ( Erie) ...we even had THUNDER snow...lol..I looked out a bit ago and couldn't even see the house across the street it was snowing so hard..Not blowing...SNOWING.....wow ! When it's cold and stormy, what is a good way to pass the time ????Hmmmm.. I know !!! Go and sign up for a SUPER Spectacular GIVEAWAY !! Another try at Rug Hooking....

I am not too happy with my progress so far. I don't want to be too hard on myself. I don't feel like giving up.Every time I grab ( or cut ) the next wool strip I'm hopefull this row will turn out better. I'm still trying to get the hang of going through small curves and not making my loops too tight. Ok, so, seasoned rug hookers, tell me this ...Am I breaking some unspoken rules here ? I almost feel as though not having a class or any proper " learnin' " in this, that I'm doing things wrong and I'll never really know what....lol #1 I don't have a cutter, and I can't seem to find a ruler in my stash that is actually STRAIGHT ! all of them seem to be warped or something...grrrrrrr...I can't seem to get strips that are even in width, and I hate to waste the ones that are too thin or too thick or thin on the ends and thicker in the middle.

#2 I found outtoo late that my hoop is just a little too small.Or...that I drew out my design just a hair too big....lol...the very ends dont all fit in the hoop, so I am going to have to move the piece on the hoop, squishing what I've allready hooked, in order to finish the outside.#3 I'm not happy with the strip of off white I did around the bird, hoping to " highlight " it . I was going to do that to the flowers also, but after I did it, I don't like it. I think it looks too ??? Cartoonish ?? Soooo...rather than pull the loops out and re-do, I'm thinking of just staining that just a tad to tone it down ???#4 I hooked the area inside the lare flower with a checked blue wool. The more I look at THAT, I'm not happy with it...#5 The numbers came out horrible ( how do you all do it ??!!)#6 The square that the numbers are inside came out all whacky and not square...Do I tear that out and re-do?#7 Almost forgot...I only have a hoop, no frame, so do I spend the money on a frame ? I don't see myself givng it up anytime soon so...??Ok, like I said, I don't want to beat myself up toooooo bad , but at the same time, where do I draw the line at being particular, and giving myself a pass on perfection for the sake of enjoying the self-teaching/learning process. ??There you have my weekend...lolOff to cut more strips and trudge on. I am enjoying it, don't get me wrong, I just wish I could figure some of the finer points of the art out...Hugs,Robin

New Punch Needle Pattern and New Doll , pattern almost finished...

I never would have believed anyone, if they told me last year when I first really gave it a shot at punch needle, that I would be able to start a project at 4:30 pm , that's drawing pattern on the weavers cloth, setting up my supplies then starting to punch, and be finished with it by 11:50 pm ... I think what really has helped me is getting my thyroid taken care of. When it was so bad and levels were dangerously low ( I didn't realize it) I couldn't have concentrated long enough to even think to draw up a design.I then proceeded to stay up ALL night ( I know...stupid) and finish up my doll for a new pattern. Not only that, but I hooked up a quick heart to add to it, allthough the hooking part is optional for the pattern.

I did manage a sleep for a bit, and now back up, working on the pattern finishes, and God willing, that will be finished before later tonight and then, I AM going to bed at a decent hour !!Hubby got up for work this morning and almost scolded me for not going to bed. He worries I'll get run down and then I catch any little bug that happens along. I heard him getting his belongings ready, next thing I know he is standing behind me with a prepared glass of "Emergen C"... distasteful drink...I can taste the B vitamins in it and EWWWWW.... He teased that he would plug my nose for me while I drank it....lol..He did stand over me till I ~~drank~~ gagged it all down....Hugs to you all...Be Creative !!

Visited a lovely shop...I got wool !!!

Design by: Lisa Bongean (Primitive Gatherings)I visited a lovely shop today...Anita's Homespun Treasures ..It's located about 40 or so miles from me...The woman who owns it, Anita, shares the space with a Quilt shop on the other side... I've been at the shop before, but of course with all the beautiful quilts and other finished items hanging on the walls, and adorning little nooks and crannies, not to mention the wonderful wools and other fabrics everywhere, I just about died and gone to heaven when I walk through the door...Anita is a really nice and very talented lady...She has a few of her own beautiful designs published, and has created so many other awesome goodies with wool and other fabrics...I am just going to post the pics, but you will see a really unique loom...Anita spins, weaves, knits, crochets, sews quilts, does wool appliques projects...hmmm I know I must've missed something.... Oh, and she overdyes some of her wools and the colors are PERRRFECTION !!You will see some of the wool I purchased..hubby laughs because I asked him to keep the bag of goodies I bought in the back , but within reach for me....He said " I know why ,,so you can fondle and admire your goodies on the way home "...well....of course !!! ...lolI also had to buy a few pattern books..I wonder when I will do anything from them ????Don't we all have that problem...??So if you are ever in the area ( Warren County Pa. ) stop in and tell Anita I sent ya .... Hooked Heart Progress and Another Talented Lady...

I have been hesitant to start my second hooked project as I don't have a good stash of variations of colors. I'm not happy with the larger pieces of wool that I have that can be cut into strips for hooking... the colors are just not quite right.But..I went ahead and placed the backing on my hoop, drew a heart in an oval on it and just started...It really is addicting, I didn't want to put it down. Now, I seem to be having a really big problem with the strip of wool twisting as I pull it through. This tends to take up alot of time for me, but I'm still learning.The colors of red in the pic look too bright and kind of "orangey" ( is that even a word ?) This is really just a "practice" for me, learning going around the curves and corners. I still need to get the hang of uniform looking loops and I ended up in the middle of the heart, getting bunched up. I know for all of you experienced hookers, it was just a matter of " practice makes perfect "...I hope so....lolAnd now....another VERY talented lady on Ebay, Chris(mysticalprimitives) has punched one of my designs from my "Thyme for Valentines's " Doodle Booklet. New Valentine Wool Applique Mat and Pattern

I have been quietly tucked away in my craft room for most of the this past weekend, designing, stitching and writing up the pattern for my new wool applique mat. I never used to do alot of decorating for St. Valentine's Day, except for a small ornie tree and some stitched pillows. Well, I wanted something to add to my few Valentine decorations, so I actually made 2 of these, one to sell and one for myself.
so...the pattern is now available, and the finished mat will be available for sale when we open our new selling group on the 20th of January..
Now, I can get to taking down of the Christmas decorations...Hubby is taking a vacation day off tomorrow , so I very sweetly asked if he would like to lend a hand and he very sweetly said yes .....lol

Enjoying the results....now a little cleaning....

I finished baking Sunday, and took my own advice...I sat and watched a few Hallmark Christmas movies...I am so blessed to have a hubby who actually LOVES the Hallmark Christmas movies...He will sit and watch one after the other ...without me....lol...
Here are a few pics of a little decorating here and there...I would love to have all antiquey or old timey Christmas decor, but the budget doesn't always allow for replacing the old with something older.....lol..or different....I gave a TON of my decorations away to my DIL last year and my daughter this year, so maybe I need to start thinking ahead next year and checking out Ebay and other primitivs sites to get some new ( older looking...lol) decorations before the holiday is upon us...
The first pic is just a look out my front door...notice the dent in te door ?? Moving does that sometimes...lol...We never did anything aout i, I've wantedto paint my door red for awhile, so I was going to have hubby try to fix it when I do paint it....
so...now here is a pic of a wall in my kitchen:

My gingerbread tree...it was a bushy old fake tree that I gave a haircut....lol...I trimmed all of the branches and trimmed a few off of the bottom...I figured if I spent that much time doing it, I was going to use it !

I had to move my whole living room around to make room for the teeny tiny tree, cause my house is kind of teeny tiny....lol...so I took a pic of the changed up Santa bench..oh and a snowman...

Here is my tree all decked out with so many sweet ornies from swaps in the past, and of course a few ditties of my own...one pic is with lights on, one without :

A message.....and Swap Goodies !!!

Merry 8 Days Before Christmas !!! Wow, time is moving so quickly , and just like a snowball that builds up speed and momentum as it rolls along down a snow covered hill, the closer we get the more intense our feelings of being overwhelmed become !! DON'T DO IT !!! Christmas will come no matter what..Just like the profound message in the much loved, but highly under-rated cartoon by Dr. Suess.... " It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
It came without packages, boxes, or bags!"
Sadly, I am guilty of letting mysef fall prey to these feelings just as much as the next person. So I say this not as a scolding from a superior person to a lowly inferior thinker..but from a fellow distracted, want all things to be just so, run around doing everything and nothing person.
Let's just stop and sit down ( if you are reading this ,chances are you are in a sitting position allready...lol), and switch your brain to a different train of thought if even for just a moment. Christmas will come,,,, without that extra strand of lights on the tree, it will come ...even if the last batch of cookies cooked just a little too much...it will come..... Whether you get the chance to touch up the coloring in your hair, or fill in your nails...it will come.

Did you sit and watch a favorite Holiday show ? Did you pause and take the time to stick a little change or more in the red kettle outside of your local grocery or department store ?? Did you spend just a little extra time to enjoy the festively decorated homes in your neighborhood, even if one house only has a small lighted plastic candle on a window ledge, or aluminum tinsel garland wrapped around a porch post ?
If not...Do it !!

Christmas cookie baking, fun with Grandson and other stuff....

Well, my oldest daughter and I have officially finished the SECOND traditional Christmas cookies that we bake each year...Folks, you would think I'm sending a dozen to every serviceman and woman overseas...We make sooooo many of each type ....today was sugar cookie cut outs...The pic is horrible....all of the pics were taken with my phone...I love my Blackberry but it takes HORRIBLE pictures....
anyways, in the pic, it doesn't look like alot of cookies, but trust me...it's alot of cookies....lol...we usually take another whole day to frost them all, so at least the really messy part is done...I love the cut-outs but I hate the flour-ey mess......!!!
My daughter had little man Keegan Rory with her and he was just so cute...He is at that age where he is really doing silly things and he had me laughing so hard a few times today, I had to use my inhaler....lol
He looked so cute with his food all over his face today, of course I had to get a pic..he had baby lasagna...my little Garfield...lol

I used a cute idea from a gal on the boards over at PrimMart..she had strung her red plastic cookie cutters and added lights...So I decided I would string up a few of my vintage red handled metal cookie cutters ( and one donut cutter) and hang them on a small piece of garland and lights over my kitchen window.....like I said my phone takes horrible pics, so I plan on taking some more photos with my camera sometime
soon...

I was playing around the other day wanting to try my hand at painting...I drew up the words wool and some penny circles...I made it all the primary colors just because ?? then started doing shading ...it is kinda cute sitting in my craft room...I may try to paint one of my designs...some folks have done that, but they knew what they were doing....lol

Hello one and all !! It's been a grand Monday so far, with lots of things going on and workin away... I woke up feeling a little overwhelmed with Thanksgiving approaching so fast, but then I remembered,..I am thankful for every day, and I am going to just do what I can, enlist the help of others to do what I can't do and then enjoy Thanksgiving and be grateful just like the Holiday is meant for....
So with that said...
I had a good time going to a few antique stores Saturday and Sunday and a Thrift store or two.One of the places I went to yesterday, has a few wonderful handmade primitive goodies by a fellow Blogger, Kris of Kountry Porch Primitives...I keep forgetting she lives so close to me....lol
I found some neat goodies to make some things out of and even a nice wool jacket that once cut up and washed and dried , gave me some beautiful light tan wool that I can use just as is or over dye....can't wait to try it...

***** See the tiny red oil can in the pic above ??? It is going to be a part of a goodie I am making for a swap ....It was painted a horrible color turquoise and had gold trim and tole painted with ugly flowers...I barely had my purse off of my shoulder when I got home Saturday, and started sanding it down and I painted it red and went over it with a black wash..it still needs to be sealed, but I like how it turned out...

Working on a new Santa Doll Pattern....The bodies both look slightly different as I like to experiment with my prototypes and see which shape works best, if I stitch here or there do the bodies or arms bend more easily....etc...etc,....
Working on the trim for the jackets now...Probably will have the pattern finished either tonight or first thing tomorrow.....

Oh, and I did make my list of grocery items for Thanksgiving, but I did get my frozen turkey Saturday evening and have that thawing in the fridge allready...

Freebie Doodle and painting some boxes.....

I drew this guy up and thought, "gee, I know how much everyone LOVES Snowmen ! I have to offer another freebie !!".,,,,well, it went something like that ! hahah....
So here ya go...And of course I had to play around in the paint program so I colored him in too...

I used to have these boxes in my Bathroom, cause they kind of matched my decor and colors in there, well, I FOUND my shower curtain I hunted high and low for, so I'm going to re-do the bathroom sometime soon here...Most everything in there with the exception of my wall box and mini cupboard, is going to my Daughter and DIL for their bathroom as they have the same theme and colors.But I love stacking boxes, so I decided to paint them. I printed out labels ( goofed up on the coffee...lol) for them to go in the kitchen for now, but i will just orint different labels and put them in my newly re-decorated bathroom when that happens.I am adding a before and after pic....

Working on a Santa Pattern..should be finished by tomorrow evening sometime...staying busy and creative is oh so good for my soul !! Thank you Lord for your goodness !!!

I've been working since Sunday on a wool applique pattern for a runner..It's called "Twas The Night Before Christmas " ( not very original ,I know ). Now, I added the year 1822 because that is when the story(poem actually) was first written, it was published in a New York newspaper under the title "A Visit from St. Nicholas" It wasn't until 1844 that it was credited publicly to Clement C. Moore , when it was included in an anthology of his works.... So...learn something new everyday huh?...lol
I snapped some pics while I was arranging the pieces for placement, and still need to stitch it together then, finish writing out the pattern. It can easily be done up as a hooked rug, punch needle piece or a stitchery also.
and...Yesterday I recruited my 18 year old daughter to paint a bench that hubby had made me years ago. The Hunter Green and natural wood was just soooo country 80's and 90's ....lol...I still have to sand down, distress and go over with a stain....
Now....I am having a Christmas Giveaway !!! I'll post pics tomorrow of the goodies and rules to be entered.....For now, have a super dee duperty great evening !!

Hello...I've been gone a while, well, I've been away longer before, but I have been pretty busy ...I even have a few pics to prove it...**see above...**
allthough I'm not sure if the pictures will be in order so you might have to just figure out which pic goes with which statement....lol

1. re-arranged my wool again. It looks like my stash shrunk, but actually all I did was smoosh ot together....lol.
2.I spent an entire day pulling threads apart, unraveling tangled floss and arranging according to colors( numbers).I was afraid I would never want to look at floss again after that..I should have taken before pics...yikes !!
3.I'm working on a new snowman doll and pattern. I've been making 2 of each prototype..one for me, and one to sell...I'm happy how it's coming along...
3. I forgot to post pics of some of my Fall decor, now I am working on putting Thanksgiving decor out...
4.I'm still working on my Turkey punch needle.
5. And.... My beautiful baby, number 6 , is 18 years old today !! It's bittersweet you know...Het to see the last of my babies become legally an adult ?? But yet, it is exciting also... Here she is with freshly dyed hair and the ritual eyebrow pluck...lol..don't know what it is, but my daughters and even my daughter in laws end up with a new Momma L. eyebrow plucking on their birthday's.....????

Spending a few days at my daughter's house...

I am enjoying my little stay with my daughter and hubby and of course baby Keegan....not that I'm bored, but just had to bring some floss, my hoops and needle punch...oh, and wool also,,, here is what I played with..I don't have good lighting and no good surface, so don't laugh at how crooked the applique pieces are on the little runner....

I love staying here, ...this what I get to see everyday !! He is my precious little angel baby boy....lol...And what a personality to boot...He has started mimicking sounds and words"ba ba"...and he has found his feet....He makes me just laugh and smile so much my face hurts....lol

Hello...wow....Cold, rainy weekend here...LOVE IT ! I know some may think I'm weird, but I love this weather, and it made me feel like punchin away..It's very relaxing and hoping I'll get better with experience.I'm not sure how I'm going to finish it, but I have a few bread boards I could use...or frame it ?? Now that I'm thinking about it, I have a large hanging wall basket I could use glue dots to tempoarily attach it for the Fall/ Thanksgiving Season....

I thought I'd share the pics of my poor little dead bush recycled into my Fall Tree with the little wax ornaments i bought and the larger ones I made....I still have to put my Fall decorations up, and I figured tomorrow would be a good time....

Finishd my Needle Punch......

I actually got my needle punch done, through terrible head cold and sinus infection...only bits of sleep and half of the time doing it half asleep....lol
It's not perfect by any means...I couldn't find my weaver's cloth, so I just grabbed a piece of muslin...big mistake !! All of you who do needle punch need no explanation....But, the weave of the muslin is different, and when I would get to certain spots, when I punched through the fabric it almost started to rip...the threads in the weave came apart and left huge spaces and the the loop of floss wouldn't stay in...Huge lesson learned...
Going to do another piece, smaller and simpler.....just to keep the practicing going...I'll get better , I will....lol

Lots of stuff...long post...some good some not so good..

Well, I had a busy weekend doing alot of little projects, and it felt so good to check things off my list of things I wanted to get done.
Here is a little shrub that sadly, died this summer..It wasn't lack of water, but just the opposite, there was a lot of run off and our soil is like clay, so the roots sat in too much water. I pulled it and let it sit in the sun behind our little shed and voila ! It now has another purpose..God bless the little thang....lol
So hubby cut a little piece of wood for a base, I painted and sanded it. I did a little "pruning", probably could have done more...??I need to adjust the lights on it,I was in a hurry to get a pic....lol . I also made some blak and spicy wax pumpkin ornies. I bought a bag of these cute little ones on Etsy and then thought heck wonder if I could make my own ? I found a wilton silicone cupcake pan and bought some super cheap black votive candles. I sprayed the silicone pan with Pam spray sprinkled in some cinnamon. I melted the wax in an old tea kettle and only filled the spaces about 1/3 of the way. They popped right out, and I rolled them in cinnamon and cloves...I took a large needle and heated it up every time and made the holes for the wire, which I need to hunt down....lol..Can't remember where I put it I have so many little craft containers...geesh...
Then...I started a punch needle from my Freebie design...it feels good to do up some of my doodles...I don't do it alot, lack of patience...lol

And now...I don't do this as often as I should..I get so busy and caught up with other things, but i need to give these ladies credit and tell them how much I appreciate their talent, and words of encouragement about my designs.

And now it brings me to the not so good news..I could use prayers...I went to day for a sonogram of my thyroid. I have had problems with hypo(low) thyroid and take medication. Past few months I have been feeling worse and worse..Too many symptoms to name. Now, remember I am a nurse, and so my distaste for doctors and hospitals and medicine, is boundless....lol..I would never have gone to my family doctor had it not been for the fact that the pain and fatigue and other symptoms are sometimes debilitating. During a routine physical exam, which included palpating my thyroid, it was noticably larger and hard on the left side. So the sonogram and bloodwork ( 4 vials full,,,,lol) were ordered. I'm praying it is just enlarged due to not working to capability and maybe I'll just need to up the dose of Synthroid...
So...There you have it...Probably the LONGEST post I've ever made....lol

Hey...guess what ? I was so encouraged by the wonderful responses to my ponderings about continuing to draw up my own designs, that I decided YES ! I will continue, because this is who I am ! I love creating and if even 1 or 2 people enjoy my designs, then I will keep at it ! So, after being up almost all last night, I decided to draw and color and I have the cover finished and I'm almost done with a new Fall Thyme Doodle Booklet....Now to get some sleep.......lol

As Fall nears, I am struggling with some things.....

I have been involved and creating and designing primitive dolls, stitcheries, wool projects and now my drawings are used for punch needle and rug hooking,oh....I have had a few painters use my designs to paint on wood also, going at it since 2002.
I've never gotten rich doing this, and partly because I can't get myself to charge upwards of $7 - $11 and more per pattern.I've been scolded for giving away so many freebie drawings, that they could be being sold for profit. But my fun has always been to make some folks happy to have a freebie design to make and possibly sell so they can make a few bucks for themselves.Is that bad business ?
Other things are nagging at me. One , is the copy cat scandals. Thankfully, I haven't had a problem with this getting too serious, but...I have seen plenty of copying of my designs , too many times to keep track of, and I sit back and complain about it, get it off my chest , then drop it. Once again, bad business ?
I don't know how many of you remember me from my old Store and website " Me My Shelf & I Designs" ?....I mostly made one of a kind designs by me and sold alot of dolls, santas, angels, ornies you name it, and even my finished items I sold at about 25% -40%
less than what most other doll makers were selling theirs for. Most of them were'nt award winning creations, but many were unique, quality original and made with much care. I started to come into my own and eventually became popular for my unique style, others would comment that they knew a doll was made by me because my dolls had that certain look. it didn't take long and soon I noticed alot of creations looking so much like my own, it couldnt be mistaken, but these folks did their design into a pattern and voila, i felt like the copycat.
I have designs I've come out with going back to 2003 and can look today and see " new" patterns coming out that look almost exactly like my older designs,....I wont go to the person/persons and confront about it, is that bad business ?
So...my dilemma is this, there are only so many ways a pumpkin or a cat or a crow or a scarecrow or flowers and wording can be drawn and eventually, you've come up with something that resembles another persons design, totally subconciously.Is that copying ??
I would love to be creative once again and come up with some new designs for fall, but I am so afraid that they will come out looking like the other 1,000 jack o' lanterns , cats, fall foliage etc out there and I will feel sick inside as though someone will take me for a copycat.
I've thought about not doing designing anymore, and while I will enjoy creating projects from others patterns, I will always have a pit in my stomach wondering if I could have furthered myself, been recognized and asked to design for a company ( which has been my dream )....With all the wonderful talented ladies out there that are prim famous for their work, I know I don't hold a light to them, but what if ???
I am sooo torn about this and guess I wanted to vent and maybe get some feed back...if you do comment, please, be honest. Dont be afraid of hurting my feelings, but speak honestly.....
Here are some past creations of mine that ended up as free projects in a magazine ( I was accused of copying, yet I made and sold my doll on ebay 4 years earlier....I even had a lady on FB comment that oh, I must have made it using the pattern from the magazine....how can I? it was made 4 years before this particular issue came out....lol

Belsnickle Santa Ornie I designed in 2008 and made a pattern of last year.

This is a one of a kind hallween stocking I made and sold years ago and someone came out with the pattern for one very similar last year.

Here is one of my patterns I just came out with 2 years ago, and I just saw in the newest newsletter PatternMart, another pattern designer has come up with her own that looks so much like this, my husband thought it was my pattern...

I could go on and on.... but do you see my frustration? do I continue to create my own designs and either risk making something someone else can claim as thier ow, I wiuld be so embarassed, and would never do it intentionally, or constantly see my designs being copied and shut sit back as I've done and just hush.....
I just want to have fun and be creative, but I am worrying over this all the time. I want my designs to be unique and fun, but I would die if I were to step on anyone elses toes and create something that is similar to theirs.....

I ordered and received the trash can and ordered the shower curtain from 3 separate online stores and have been informed they are out of stock and distributor is out ...one place said that they won't be getting them until Nov. and I have already started to change up my bathroom and decorating "around " this shower curtain...It is called " Simplify" and is made by Blonder. I am breaking a record somewhere aren't I ? lol ...I was going to start a project from the new Primitive Quilts and Projects Magazine, but decided since I had the kit together to start a Maggie B. design from the last magazine, I would do this one up first then start on the new ones which are mostly Fall Theme.My 29 year old son came in and asked what I was doing, and he was pleasantly surprised to see me working on a prim project.......He knows I'm always happiest when I'm creating....Pics of finished project will come..

Well Hello !! Should I re-introduce myself ? Wow...I never expected to be away for so very long. I wanted to get on and just gab , but didn,t have to say.... I get in a slump here and there, but this was just a nothing much going on time.
I am getting excited for Fall and cooler weather. I HATE Summer and the heat. My idea of a perfect change of seasons would be this: Winter-> Spring-> Fall-> Fall ....lol
I purchased a few things that I KNOW would get some creative juices flowing and help get me into the Fall/Autumn mode.
The new issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects Magazine is da bomb ! So many wonderful designs ! then, I bought myself Need'l Love's "Falloween" thread book...it's great also and, the gal from Need'l Love sent me the "Give Thanks" booklet as a Thank You ...needless to say I was more than excited !
So...here's hoping it doesn't take me almost 2 months to post again.
P.S. I will for sure post a pic if I get any projects from these awsome books done !

I sat and wrote this once, late at night when I was very tired, and mistakenly deleted it....It has taken me almost a week to re-write and post ....
So....the story: My oldest daughter has had many problems with miscarriages. Her body just never seemed to be able to keep a pregnancy past 6-8 weeks.
This last time she found out she was pregnant, we just knew prayers were being answered. She saw several specialists, she was so sick with morning sickness, she was on bed rest and while she stayed with me( her and her husband's apartment had a long flight of steps so it was out) I jokingly said
I was " cooking" this baby.
we went grocery shopping and she got pushed around in a wheel chair( I think she liked that part...lol)As the time passed and she made it to 8 weeks then 12 weeks and beyond, it was both exciting and still scary, but we remained hopeful and thankful.
Well, on Sunday May 22nd @ 9:08 am, our miracle Grandson was born.
The photo was snapped just minutes after he was born. We are waiting on the CD of photos taken by the photographer that comes to the hospital, and I'll post more. the pictures turned out amazing ...Can you tell how excited and in love I am with this little man already ?

Hello all ! Hoping you are enjoying this week before Easter, and whatever Spring Weather happens to be in your neck of the woods..:)
I had purchased this border about a year agoand just last night decided to put it up on the one wall near my table in the kitchen...I just love it because it has that " old farmhouse kitchen" feel....
Other than that not a whole lot going on,,,waiting and counting down the weeks till my newest Grandson is born,,,My oldest daughter had many miscarriages in the past...She never was able to go past 6 weeks..Well, God is sooo Good and loving and He has blessed this pregnancy...She is at 36 weeks and baby is perfectly fine and dandy..I'm so happy and thankful !!

Wow....goodies in the mail today !

I was so giddy to have received 2 goodies in my mail today...I bought a small hooked rug from Betty Dekat " @Primitive Betty's" last week and hung it way up on my studio wall over the window. It's the first thing you see when you walk into the room...It is such an awsome hit and miss multi colored mat.Sooo...When I saw her left overs from a craft show she had done, I fell in love with this needle punched "primitive" tuck pillow...I had to ask if it was one of the peices she would be selling, I had to have it...Look at the prim perfect colors...it is awsome !!!
Then , reading my blog lists and looking at what others are up to, I happened to see that Lori Brechlin @ Notforgotten Farm had extra copies of the new first issue of "Primitive Quilts and Projects" Magazine for sale....So..I got one...The projects in here are so excellent !! I wish I knew how to quilt, but there are a few projects for other fabric arts such as wool applique and punch needle,which is Lori's project, I know I am doing for sure !!
Now, I'm off to find the perfect spot for my pillow and browse the magazine for a second time around....

Trying to get rid of scraps !! Oh..I think they reproduce on their own.... :)
I clean out my scraps over and over and the pile never seems to diminish....Soooo..
I started cutting pieces of my scraps and hand stitching together and ..VOILA ! this is what I came up with...I want to make another one, but with more muted colors...I like the bright multi colored things to decorate my craft room with....
you should try it...Dig into those scraps and just start sewing together and see what you come up with !!

Every so many months, I have to totally re-organize my craft area.... I am officially going to call my space, my "studio" .... Why ?? Cause I like the sound of that better....When I say craft room, I think of hot glue guns, lace, duck stencils and straw hats and plastic flowers.....lol
I bought a black bookcase to display my wool and I'm looking for primitive cubbies to display my cotton print fabrics and homespuns..

My tiny bit of Easter Decorating ....

I don't have alot space or areas ( cabinets, shelves, etc ) to decorate for Spring or Easter ...I downsized some of my furniture for need for room to move around....lol
So...I wanted to at least see some Easter decor, so I threw things together in my craft room...so I get to look at it....:)
I'm working on re-organizing and re- decorating my little " studio".....I need help ...I have a vision, and know what I want, but just have nowhere around here to find what it is I need...grrrrr.. Who knows ?? I am not giving up ....

Found a Rug Hooking Class nearby and some new goodies...

I am so excited to say that after much google-ing and searching, I actually stumbled upon a nearby rug hooking class !!
The woman who owns a small quilt shop ( part owner ) I happened upon in a little town not too far from us called Pittsfield, Pa. , is holding one in late Spring...
I was initially just l;ooking for some wool yardage and this was the only place I could find within a 100 mile radius....So after finding her shop and finally being in "wool heaven" , I mentioned how it is my dream to learn to rug hook...Well dontchaknow, she is going to be holding a class soon..I almost fell over....so anyways, I did some shopping while I was there and we also stopped at another great Primitive shop in Corry, Pa. called " Something Special "..I grabbed a few things there also....
It was such a nice day even though the weather was awful..It was cold, rainy, windy ...just plain wet wet wet and cold!!

Guess, I've been AWOL for awhile..I had a really bad February, was in the hospital for a few days ( sounds bad but it's all good) and just have been climbing out of a downward spiral...Awful time of year...As much as I love winter, this time of year plays havoc on lots of folks....
So...I haven't been creating anything...I was busy helping my son and daughter in law with their new home...it was good for me....
I wanted to show a pic of this wool applique I bought from and online yard sale group on Facebook...isn't is great ??It's in my craft room wall so I can see it all the time... I just hung it with antique tacks ....it was just a panel of stained muslin with the applique on the front, but I sewed it to black wool for a back to hang stiffer...
I hope to have some new designs or at least a freebie or two soon...

I've been keeping myself busy trying to get the hang of and improve my skills in needle punch (punch needle ...which is it ?)....Here is my Valentine's Freebie Doodle almost done...and my other doodle finished....

I usually color in my doodles on the computer and print off just to give me some inspiration for colors......

Here are my baskets with threads...you should have seen them all over my floor last week...these are ALMOST sorted by colors....lol

I finished up these rag stuffed doll bodies but they have been left unattented to...They will be the "prototypes" for a new pattern.

It's hard to get all my little ornies and the lights to look right on this little feather tree, but after I got it to stop faling over and knocking everything off and having to re-do a few times, I am keeping like this..."don't touch....don't breathe too hard..... " it's ok for now....whew....lol...It's sitting in the front window of my craft room, on my old sewing table...
I'm working on a few things and I'll post pics later....

I had this head sewn and painted white since last year, and never did a body, sewn on a face , hat ...NUTTIN'.....poor guy sat dormant all year...
So, here he is....it's hard to see his arms but they are twigs and he is hanging on my little "live" tree hubby brought me home last night...I felt bad because for the first time in my uuuuhhhhmmmmm....52 years....I did not have a real tree in my home...Wasn't that sweet...Gosh, I love that man, even if we drive each other nutty sometimes.....

That's a loaded title for ths post huh ?....lol....I first wanted to show some pics of decorating around the house....My camera took a swim in my coffee, so my daughters is my replacement and it doesn't take very nice pcs...the lighting is all off....but here goes...

Then.....I treid my hand at clay sculpting one time....and here is how it turned out....don't know why I haven't done anymore....???
I enjoyed it and I think it wasn't too bad....hmmmmm ?

And finally...Had a shory visit by m oldest son and his four boys this morning...gosh, they are handsome aren't they ???....lol

I have a tendency to "clump" my Fall stuff together when I decorate...I don't have enough to spread it throughout the whole house, so I always end up doing gatherings of certain dolls, etc. I did hang some dipped colored lights wrapped around grapevine on the t.V. armoire and in the pip berry over my front window....The Grandkids ( and myself...lol ) like the whimsical effect for Fall....

When we bought this double wide, I was originally in love with the open floor plan. As time went by I realized the "openess" has it's disadvantages....When hubby comes home from work and takes a quick snooze on the couch, I can't be in the kitchen piddling around with dinner or dishes etc., without disturbing his beauty rest or power nap.
So I started looking for a cabinet of some kind that would partially block the kitchen off from the living room, just to cut down a hair on the goings on in the other room.I found this hutch/computer desk on Craigslist for $35. It isnt super primitive and I need to fill it up yet , especially to hide what would be cut outs in the back for electical stuff., but i do really like it and it does the job...
Hubby nailed bead board ( looks like wainscotting) to the back and trimmed it off, then watered down and darkened some white paint to give it the whitewashed effect that doesn't show up in this pic that is on the front. It turned out perfect !
This pic was taken with my phone cause my camera went for a swim in a fresh hot cup of coffee....lol....this pic isn't the greatest, but I'll get another one after it gets decorated and filled up and also take a pic of the back....

Well, last weekend Hubby , my son Trevor, his sweet girlfriend Sabreena and my daughter Taylor worked in the hot humid air and beating sun to create this.... I of course was the overseer....lol. Well...I did loosen up some soil with a pic axe then started to feel nauseated...Being heavy, and I hate the heat, it caught up to me so I know when to sit back and say " Someone else do it"....lol.
We still have the other side of the front steps to do, but are waiting to get a load of top soil to buile it up a bit so that it drains away from the house better...
But, if you look at my older posts and see the before pics, it looks soooo much better...
